Astral Internet's innovative network strategy focuses on the strength of the service exchange agreements and planned redundancy. By connecting only to Internet network operators, network access points (NAP), and hundreds of service exchange partners throughout the world, Astral Internet offers exceptional performance, that other suppliers find difficult to match.

Performance

Our future proof and redundant network is connected upstream to that of major suppliers and hundreds of channel exchange partners, which ensures constant connection and superior routing. The result: first rate Internet connectivity. Your sites' availability is 99.9% guaranteed, without any cut-off point or loss of data packets.

Tata Videotron Peer1 Level3 Cogent T-System
  • Internet access availability guaranteed to be 99.9% (excluding updates)
  • No loss of packets on Astral Internet's internal network.
  • Minimal latency period and no cut-off point.
  • All customer connections use Cisco's HSRP (hot standby router protocol).
  • Fastest, unmatched inter-city transmissions.
  • Emergency generators and uninterruptable power supply (UPS)
  • BGP network via Cisco 6500 switches
  • First level of BGP redundancy within the center itself
  • Connection via Peer1, Level3 and Teleglobe
  • Distribution through Cisco 6500 switches
  • Network entry into the building via underground and overhead fiberoptics

Flexibility

  • Other connectivity options:
    100Mbits/s, Ethernet Gigabit, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48
  • Fast Ethernet connections at 100Mbits/s in full duplex

Interconnection and local loops

  • 3Gbps fiber to Videotron [Montreal to Toronto and Montreal locally]
  • 3Gbps fiber to MTO Telecom
  • Optical Fibers (6 pairs)

BGP and distribution

The BGP4 and network distribution are through Cisco 6500 switches installed in redundancy in our data center's 'Telecom' room. The entering optical fibers are connected directly to the Cisco hardware, which distributes to the bays, racks of servers in the data center. Our architecture enables us to easily add new suppliers, as needed.

Clock

The best in the industry, our highly qualified engineers, as well as the monitoring station staff are always on the leading edge of technology, optimizing performance 24/7.
